Since this site is about staying healthy, happy, and good looking, we can never overlook the importance of having a great looking, healthy RACK......yes, I said it, hooters, tetons, ta-ta's, melons, jugs, and my personal favorite, the girls! And it doesn't matter, big or small, young or old... aside from the obvious.... that we have to take care of these fabulous female commodities that we were so graciously endowed with by our creator.
So, now the hard question: WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU HAD A MAMMOGRAM? I couldn't have even asked this question a few months ago, because I had let that slide for more years that I care to share. But, this was the year I was determined to get in shape, see my doctor, and get everything checked out to make sure, that even though there are alot of miles on this chick, that I was still fit to be on the road. I had a baseline mammogram and didn't hear from anyone for almost a month, so I figured no news was good news. I finally got a letter from the diagnostic center stating that although "it's most probably benign" our findings indicate that we need you to come back in for further testing. "Most probably benign?"..... I was going to "most probably" lose a little sleep over that and to top it all off-- they had sent the results to some doctor I didn't even know in California!
So, I called them , had the results directed to MY doctor and scheduled another appointment for more testing. When I arrived, they did another mammogram (boobs smashed into a vice-like object wherein you are asked to hold your breath - all-the-time trying not to think of the discomfort-- good times- much worse than a bad bra!) Then I was taken into the ultra-sound testing room... Let me just interject here, that the last time I had an ultra-sound was with my youngest daughter who is now 25....sporting a huge stomach with a baby inside! So now, it was plain to see that they needed that very same device to see if there was any evil lurking around in my "girls" because they were, for lack of a better word, "GI-normous"! I left that day with a renewed determination to stay on my diet until I was at least back to my comfortable 36C! Another reality check.
The story ends with a letter a couple weeks later that stated " your recent mammography examination showed an area that we BELIEVE is BENIGN(not cancer). However, in six months, you should have a follow-up mammogram to confirm that this area has not changed. As you know, early detection of cancer is very important. Athough mammography is the most accurate method for early detection, not all cancers are found through mammography. A thorough examination includes a combination of mammography, physical examination, and breast self-examination." So, you can bet , I will go back in 6 months with my much less loftier breasts in tow and again, go through the process, because from where I'm sitting, a little discomfort now, is better than DEAD soon!
